Relationships at work

Introduction

PCI Pal does not prevent employees in relationships from working together at the company, but to ensure our business is conducted in a professional and proper manner it is necessary to recognise personal relationships which overlap with professional ones.  PCI Pal respects the right of privacy in family life and will not interfere unduly with employee's personal relationships, but this must be balanced with the need to protect the business interests and other employees, and to be able to take legitimate action when such relationships may have an impact on the company and/or employees.

The existence of such a relationship should either be declared at the point of a new employee applying for the job, or existing staff as soon as practical after the development of a relationship, or through changing role either through transfer, promotion or reorganisation to ensure there is no conflict of interest.    Any details provided will be kept in confidence to the extent reasonable and appropriate, with any relevant notes placed on the employees personal records in BreatheHR.

Conflict of interest

To help clarify what constitutes a conflict of interest(although this list is not exhaustive), the following might give rise to further issues:

Regardless of any potential conflict, any member of the senior management team  engaging in a relationship with another co-worker must declare this to the CEO.

Further action

Staff may normally continue to work together in the same team/department providing there is no conflict of interest or line management relationship.  Where a conflict of interest is found then a change or restructure of duties or roles (following discussions with involved parties) may be required.  Wherever possible no detriment (salary, benefits and general working conditions) will be suffered as a result of such changes.
