Tattoos and piercings

It is for managers to decide whether a tattoo or facial piercing by a staff member may cause offence, be a health and safety risk, or not be appropriate for their role.

Any tattoo that undermines the dignity or authority of the company, could bring the company into disrepute, would cause offence to members of the public or colleagues or be provocative, is not acceptable.  This includes any tattoos that are considered to be rude, lewd, racist, sexist, sectarian, homophobic, violent or intimidating - these would not be acceptable.

Staff must ensure any tattoos considered not acceptable are covered during working hours or work events.
