Time, attendance and relocation

Working Hours

Your normal hours of work are detailed in your Statement or any subsequent letter confirming a change in working patterns. It is your responsibility to ensure that you attend punctually for work and follow all timekeeping and absence procedures.

If you are absent from work due to any illness or injury which incapacitates you from doing any work please follow the Sickness and injury policy.  For any other absence reason please use this guidance.

As soon as you know that you will be unable to attend work, and in any event by 9.00am, please notify your line manager directly using these methods in order of preference:

1) Telephone call
2) Microsoft Teams
3) Email

In your line manager's absence or in the event that you are unable to contact them please speak to their line manager or HR (rachael.drouet@pcipal.com/07816 141310).  If neither parties are available please use the central number 0330 131 0330. In extreme circumstances where you personally are unable to make contact then you may request a friend, relative or neighbour make contact on your behalf.  It is your responsibility to ensure a message regarding your absence gets through to one of these parties.  In addition, you must also report your absence using BreatheHR (this can be done using your mobile phone, https://pcipal.breathehr.com).

If you have a need to leave work prior to your normal finishing time or to have time away during the normal working period, you must not leave without first obtaining permission from your line Manager. In such circumstances, you must report to your line Manager upon leaving and, where appropriate, returning to work.

Persistent lateness, unacceptable levels of absence and/or unauthorised absence will result in a disciplinary warning or dismissal, depending on the circumstances.

Unpaid Leave

Unpaid leave may be agreed with a line manager in exceptional circumstances, this will be as either a full or half day (at the line manager’s discretion).  Employees should speak directly to their line manager so that any time off can be agreed by them. Please also see Parental Leave for scheduled care-related leave, and Time Off for dependents in case of caring for other emergencies.

AWOL

Every instance of AWOL (absence without leave) will be investigated by the employee’s line manager and every employee will be given the opportunity to explain their unauthorised absence. Being absent without leave could result in disciplinary action.
